*Mr Turner’s Night Out: London Critics Circle Awards

Mike Leigh’s wonderful “Mr Turner”  was rightfully recognised at  the 35th London Critic’s Circle Film Awards  at London’s Mayfair Hotel with Timothy Spall receiving the British Actor of the Year award for his leading role in the movie.  There was absolute delight to see that Spall, who was snubbed at the Oscars finally received an award for his role as the British painter JMW Turner in Mike Leigh’s Mr Turner.  The 57-year-old actor who was certainly looking very fit and dapper, was accompanied to the glamourous event by his wife Shane Spall.

Boyhood beat off competition from The Theory of Everything and The Grand Budapest Hotel to be crowned the biggest winner of the night with three awards including Film of the Year.

The Lady of the night was Miranda Richardson who was presented with the Dilys Powell Award for Excellence in Film.

mistan1Established in 1913, The Critics’ Circle is the oldest organisation of its kind in the world, with more than 400 members who work in the UK media as critics of drama, art and architecture, music, film, dance and literature.
