Who would you say is your career inspiration?
-My career inspiration is a lady that needs no introduction – but I’ll do just that. She’s a media proprietor, actress, philanthropist, talk show host, and Producer. Oprah Winfrey is everything I believe I am growing into and more. Reading her inspirational story of going from almost nothing, to now being worth over 2.8Bn USD gives me goosebumps every single time.
To produce and present a talk show is no mean feat (something I well know about), but to further ensure that it becomes the highest rated tv show of its kind in history, whilst always remembering to give back and being the greatest black philanthropist in history is major #goals for me.
You have achieved so much already in your career – what do you feel are your next challenges?
– I have? (Laughs) I’m very self-critical, so while I thank you for your kind words, I also believe that I have so much more to do before I can stop to pat myself on the back.
Next up will be a big move to…I’ll keep the location secret for now – but I feel it is the next logical step for my career progression. Particularly because, as a humanitarian, I feel compelled to make others’ lives better. And that’s easily achievable with a larger platform and wider reach. Keep your fingers crossed for me…all will be revealed in due course.
Where is the most beautiful place you have visited?
– I’ve had the blessing of being able to visit some of the most glorious locations on earth – and for that reason, I am unable to pick just one location.
Every single village, hamlet, township, city and/or country that I’ve lived in or visited is robed in devastating beauty. From the crystalline waters of Dakar, to the amiable people of Mauritius, to the brilliant beasts of Kenya, to the delectable cuisine of Paris – I’m stumped! Can i pick them all?
Your favourite music? Which artists inspire you?
I’m one of those people that listens to everything. (Ok, everything with the Hard exception of heavy metal). Being of Afro-Caribbean heritage, I’m particularly into Afrobeat, highlife, and calypso, but I also adore spending a quiet evening at home with a great book and some classical music.
I’m inspired by my fellow Scorpio – Diddy, as his capacity for re-invention is magnificent.
What do you think about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle?
I love it!!! It just goes to show that anything is possible. Who would have thought that a biracial divorcée could (potentially) become the next queen of England?
Even though she’s not the first melanin monarch (as we had Queen Charlotte Sophie in the 1700s), she’s the most relatable. I’ve loved watching Megan Markle in Suits for years; I’m happy she’s happy!
What advice would you give to young people looking to break into the entertainment business?
Stay true to yourself. Authenticity is EVERYTHING! If you always keep in the back of your mind that “no one is you, and that is your power”, you cannot but win.
Thank you Keturah!
